A high-altitude outing of intermediate difficulty and with an enchanting view of the Brenta Dolomites, from Lake Ritort to Malga Valchestria and down to the characteristic Malga Ritort.

From Lake Ritort (altitude: 2,055 m / 6,740 ft), which can be reached easily from the arrival of the 5 Laghi gondola lift, take the up-and-down trail to the remnants of Malga della Pozza dei Garzoni. From here, continue on to Pian dei Mughi along a trail with a breathtaking view of the Brenta Dolomites through a stunning setting in which you may very well encounter chamois and other mountain goats. The pasture lands around Malga Val Chestria (altitude: 1,858 m / 6,095 ft) make an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic before the return trip along the same trail until the fork in the road to Malga Ritort. There is also a variant from Valchestia to S.A. di Mavignola past the Clemp farmhouses, thereby avoiding a return to Malga Ritort. Author's advice: A pleasant outing for the whole family in a setting populated by chamois and other mountain goats. Ideal destination for a picnic.
