SKIER’S CODE OF BEHAVIOUR

The above text is taken from paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of art. 30 of the rules for the enforcement of the provincial law of 21 April 1987 no.7 and further modifications, “Regulations relating to public cableway lines and ski runs”.
PARAGRAPH 1. A skier is a person who uses skis, snowboard or similar equipment on the ski slopes. Only skiers are allowed on the ski slopes; pedestrians and animals are not allowed on them and the use of sledges, motor sledges, bobsleighs, rafts and other is forbidden.
PARAGRAPH 2. When using the ski slopes every skier, besides observing the signs, must keep to the following rules: a. behave in such a way as not to endanger his own or others’ safety or cause damage to people or things. Skiers must maintain a speed, path and safety distance which permits the mobility of any skier they have overtaken and avoids, even in the case of a fall, any foreseeable obstruction. They must therefore behave according to their technical ability, personal physical fitness, the snow cover and visibility;
b. keep a particularly moderate speed on nursery slopes, crowded ski runs, the terminal part of them, in the vicinity of crossing, junctions and ski lift stations;
c. use only skis, snowboards or similar equipment fitted with safety devices which avoid causing any harm to other people if the equipment becomes detached;
d. place the ski equipment (skis, snowboard, ski poles or other) off the ski slope when stopping at the refuges or other places so as not to create any impediment or danger for other skiers.
PARAGRAPH 3. Every skier is strictly forbidden at any time:
a. to descend the ski runs at high speed in a straight line or in a position that is incompatible with tourist skiing and the safety of other skiers;
b. to sit, lie or stay in a similar position on the ski slope, or out of sight of skiers arriving from uphill as this may create a danger or obstruction for other skiers;
c. to use the ski runs when the ski lifts are not operating without prior permission to do so from the responsible person in charge of operations on the ski slopes. This permission may anyway only be granted after the person responsible for maintenance has checked whether the above use is compatible with the maintenance work on the ski runs.
Pursuant to art. 55 paragraph 1, letter b) of the provincial law 7/87, breach of the code of behaviour is punishable with a fine from euro 30.00 to euro 92.00.
