From North Sea to Dolomites
THE SWEDISH – ITALIAN SAILING PROJECT

The WWW.SKI.IT boat will be visible on the Scandinavian sail-racing arena through out 2008. The Italian-Swedish project is boosting more visitors from Scandinavia to have a vacation in the Italian Dolomites during last winter season. The 'Skiboat', a carbon-fibre mast rigged First 36.7, expands its effort further during the 2008 sailing season and will now attract even more sailors to go skiing in the fantastic ski area of the top ski resorts such as Folgarida, Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio.
The first major regatta for the team this year is the Faerder Race (Oslo, Norway) with approximately 1100 competitors. The “Skiboat” did a honourable result last year, holding a podium position from start to finish, leaving the event in a third place over all. Beating among other teams, HM King Harald of Norway.

Project manager Fredrik Wenehult has gathered a crew of highly experienced dinghy and keelboat racers from Sweden to crew the boat.
The WWW.SKI.IT boat, will be the link between all Scandinavian sailors who might be interested in fantastic ski vacation at Skiarea Folgarida-Marilleva-Madonna di Campiglio; a top destination in the Italian Dolomites of Trentino region with more than 120 km of ski runs and 45 modern lifts. A real ski-paradise for both families and snow fanatics!

As main sponsor, the Italian Lift Company Funivie Folgarida Marilleva SpA is convinced that the summers' sailors they reach through this project are skiers during the winter season. The goal is to change the Scandinavian pattern of travel during winter to visit the mountains of Italy.
